ABSENTEESM POLICY

IF a child is absent as a result of being ill or if they are well-documented absences for other reasons, then no special action is required.

However, if a child has been absent for four (4) or more consecutive unexcused absences, the program must initiate action. The procedures include a “home-visit” or other direct contact with the parents by the child’s teacher. All contacts with the child’s family must be documented on the “home-visit” and in the child’s contact log sheet signed by the parent or an appropriate family member.

In circumstances where chronic absenteeism continues, should the decision by both the teacher and the parent that the concerned child will be dropped from the program, the child’s slot is considered an enrollment vacancy.
